A new year brings new hope and joy in our Lord!
First up in January is our Annual Congregational Meeting set for January 31st. Like everything else lately, we are doing this in a new and different way thanks to the ongoing threat and challenges from Covid-19. Our meeting will be virtual this year on Zoom and by phone. The Congregational Annual Report is available here. It is password protected. If you have not received the password in an email, contact the church office (214-327-2222 or central.lutheran.dallas@gmail.com) A letter has been sent out to the congregation with details for the meetings – and here’s a copy of that information from Pastor Kristina:
Greetings Central Family,
Happy New Year! As we have since Central Lutheran was first formed, we will continue to hold our Annual Congregational Meeting. Unfortunately, it just won’t include a chili cookoff this year. Please be sure to make your own pot of deliciousness and vote for yourself. On January 31st, our congregational meeting comes into your home by Zoom web conferencing. Like years past, our Annual Congregational Meeting will include most of the usual events – prayer and devotion, approval on the committee reports (which will be brief this year), an annual budget, election of new council members, and shared hope and vision for the future. We will also hold a special vote to approve the members nominated for the call committee for our next pastor. And, we get do all of this digitally. Together, but digitally. We’ll walk and talk you through it and give you chance to test out the technology first so it isn’t as overwhelming as it sounds. This way, you can focus on the things that matter.
We will have two days to test the Zoom technology – it’s a playground where you can learn and fail, push buttons, and sound silly. It’s a learning opportunity – and we might just have some good conversation, too! Join the test meetings on Friday night, Jan 29th, at 7pm, or Saturday Jan 30th at noon. I encourage everyone to join the test meeting, regardless of your comfort level and familiarity of Zoom. The test meeting is accessible to both web connections and dial-in telephone connections. The web link is available here: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86536867617?pwd=aVg4aVA1bU5mL0JrZ0tyeWJBM1NCdz09

P.S. A brief side note about that call committee… Even though I’ve been serving here, I am a “term interim” call, and I still need to go through this call process as a candidate in order to ensure that the pastor with the best-matched gifts is selected for Central. Procedurally, I do not automatically just become your pastor after my term expires, but rather we discern this next step together. This is normal within our denomination and should be looked upon with excitement as it marks the next phase of Central’s growth toward health and healing.
