October & November at Central – update posted 10/22/18
It’s been a busy month and more to come! All are welcome to join us as we continue our community service and activities! See details below for the November 3rd Craft Fair & November 4th music festival!
Saturday, October 27 – Blessing of the Animals at 11:00 AM
We’ve rescheduled this after our rain soaked weekend earlier in the month! Join us in Oak Alley for this special event –
Taken from Pastor Rich’s recent message: “The poem All Things Bright and Beautiful, by Cecil Frances Alexander, describes all creation existing to praise God and how truly great is “God almighty Who has made all things well.” The words of this poem have been set to music and can be found in the hymnal With One Voice, #767. We are not only connected to God’s creation, we have an obligation as stewards to protect and preserve God’s creation. A person who not only understood this but lived it was St. Francis of Assisi. He had a real connection with animals. He said of animals, “Not to hurt our humble brethren is our first duty to them, but to stop there is not enough. We have a higher mission — to be of service to them whenever they require it.” There are many stories about St. Francis and his encounters with animals; no wonder he is the Patron Saint of Animals.
We invite you to bring your furry, scaly, or feathered friend for a special recognition and blessing. We will be spread out with cats & dogs in different areas if needed. If your pet is a little skittish around others, you are welcome to bring a picture so you and they can be included in this special morning and blessing.
